The clinic
Come in, then
People are usually a little surprised the first time. They expect a waiting room with a sliding glass window and somebody asking for a postcode. What they get is a front door with a grapevine growing up the brick, and one of us opening it.
That is not us cutting corners. It is the whole idea. We are in Norton Fitzwarren, just outside Taunton — close enough to reach easily, far enough to be quiet.
It started with a spare room
We are Agnieszka and Piotr. We had read about molecular hydrogen for a long time before we ever bought a machine — the way you do when something keeps turning up and you cannot quite let it go. Eventually we stopped reading and tried it ourselves, in the back room, with the door shut so nobody would laugh at us.
Friends asked. Then friends of friends asked. At some point we realised we were running something, and that if we were going to run it, we should do it properly: proper chair, proper equipment, proper hour set aside for each person, and a name on the door.
What we did not want was to turn it into a clinic in the cold sense of the word. So there is no reception desk. There is a kettle, and there is time.
What a morning here actually looks like
You arrive. We say hello properly — not from behind a counter — and show you the room before anything is switched on. Most people have questions at this point and there is no rush to get through them. Ask the awkward ones. We would honestly rather answer them now than have you sit there for forty-five minutes wondering.
Then you sit down. The chair reclines as far as you want it to. If you would like the blind down, we put the blind down. If you would rather talk than sit in silence, we talk. Some people bring a book. One gentleman brings the crossword and refuses all offers of help with it.
Afterwards you get up and carry on with your day. There is nothing to recover from, nothing that stops you driving, and no follow-up appointment you have to be talked out of.

The four ways we work with hydrogen
They are not four different treatments so much as four different ways of spending time with the same small molecule. Which one we suggest depends on how much time you have and what sounds most comfortable. Nobody has to have all four, and plenty of people only ever have one.
Hydrogen-rich water
Water with hydrogen dissolved into it, poured fresh and drunk while it is still fizzing. It tastes like water, because it is water — the hydrogen is a dissolved gas, not a flavour.
Served during any session
Inhalation
The one most people come for. Ordinary air with hydrogen mixed into it, passing through a soft nasal tube while you sit back. There is nothing to smell and nothing to taste.
45 minutes, seated
Eye cups
Two small cups rest over closed eyes while hydrogen-rich gas flows gently around them. People describe it as a faint cool breath. You keep your eyes shut throughout.
15 minutes, added to a session
Skin application
A soft pad is held against a chosen patch of skin and hydrogen passes through it. No needles, nothing to swallow, and you stay fully dressed.
20 minutes, added to a session
The part most places leave out
Molecular hydrogen has been studied a great deal — there are hundreds of published papers, and more arriving every year. Most of those studies are small, many are early, and the honest summary is that this is an active field rather than a settled one.
So here is what we will not do. We will not tell you it treats anything. We will not tell you to stop taking something your GP prescribed. We will not sell you a course of twelve before you have tried one. And if you ask us a question we cannot answer, you will get “we do not know” rather than something that sounds better.
What we can promise is the bit we control: a clean room, unhurried time, equipment we maintain properly, and two people who are glad you came.
The two of us

Between us we are the whole staff. That means you get the same two faces every time, and it also means that if you ring during a session, you may get the answerphone. Leave a message — we do call back, usually the same day.
